In memoriam J.J.C.A. van Tatenhove (1940-2010)
De redactie van Delineavit et Sculpsit heeft met verslagenheid kennis genomen van het bericht van Janno van Tatenhove’s overlijden op 27 april 2010; wij wisten dat hij ziek was, maar hadden niet het vermoeden dat zijn einde zo nabij zou zijn.
Vanwege zijn broze gezondheid waren Janno’s werkzaamheden als redactielid in de laatste paar jaren al enigszins verminderd, maar zijn afwezigheid zal niettemin als een groot gemis worden gevoeld. Dankzij zijn kwaliteiten heeft Janno veel betekend voor Delineavit et Sculpsit. De redactie had veel respect voor zijn compromisloze kritische instelling, zowel ten opzichte van zijn eigen bijdragen als die van de andere auteurs. Ons respect gold evenzeer zijn kennerschap, dat steeds hand in hand ging met een strikte vakdiscipline en het feilloze gevoel voor zuiver taalgebruik dat voor iedere wetenschappelijke tekst essentieel is.
Ger Luijten new director of the Fondation Custodia

Ger Luijten, head of the Rijksprentenkabinet (the State Print Room, a department of the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam) has been appointed the new director of the Fondation Custodia. He will succeed Mària van Berge-Gerbaud, who will retire on 1 May 2010. The Fondation Custodia, a Swiss foundation based in Paris, is closely linked to the Netherlands Institute in Paris. It is a prestigious institution housing an important Dutch collection of old master drawings, as well as prints and paintings, formed by the late Frits Lugt. For more information see their website. Rotterdam preparing catalogue of early Netherlandish drawings

The Museum Boijmans has started a three-years project to catalogue its 440 drawings by Netherlandish (Dutch and Flemish) masters born before 1580. The project is sponsored by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science through the Mondrian Foundation. Two free-lance researchers have been hired to assist senior curator Dr. Albert Elen: Dr. Yvonne Bleyerveld and Judith Niessen MA will write the entries of most of the drawings. The scientific advisory committee includes specialists Prof.dr. Jan-Piet Filedt Kok, Prof.dr. Ilja Veldman, Prof.dr. Gert Jan van der Sman, Dr. Yvette Bruijnen and Marijn Schapelhouman MA. The catalogue will be published in 2012.
Rotterdam: drawings and prints in a semi-permanent display

The Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen has ‘refreshed’ its semi-permanent display of old and modern masters, called The Collection Two for the next two years. In 11 of the 39 rooms on the first floor selections of prints (appr. 45) and drawings (appr. 75) are presented in specially made glass cases. In view of the vulnerability of works of art on paper these rooms have been darkened; the level of artificial light is reduced below 50 lux. The museum changes the selections of drawings every three months, the prints every half year. Read More
Wolfgang Holler leaves Dresden Printroom for Weimar

Prof.Dr. Wolfgang Holler (1956), director of the Kupferstichkabinett Dresden since 1991 and vice-director general of the Staatliche Museen Dresden since 2002, has been appointed the new director of the Museen der Klassik Stiftung Weimar effective 1 July 2009.
