Michiel Plomp follow-up for Kwakkelstein at Teylers

Dr. Michiel C. Plomp, now associate curator of Old Master drawings at the Metropolitan Museum will succeed Dr. Michael Kwakkelstein, effective 1 February 2006. Kwakkelstein has acted as chief curator of the art collections in Teylers Museum for exactly one year. He has spent most of his time organizing the great Michelangelo exhibition, including the heavy task of editing the exhibition catalogue.
Kwakkelstein will return to Florence where he has been appointed Associate Director for Academic Affairs at the Institute of Fine and Liberal Arts, based in the Palazzo Ruccellai. Michiel Plomp studied art history at theUniversity of Utrecht and received his Ph.D. in 2002 at Groningen University. He is a specialist in the history of collecting of Old Master drawings, especially in the 18th century in Holland. He has collaborated on several exhibitions (and catalogues) in New York, including the Rubens-blockbuster of 2004.
